So are all probably aware that we are big fans of La Roux on Hotmess. Tonight the greatness collides! Vintage will be catching up with our beloved former 'Ginger of the Week' who I was lucky enough to catch in concert a few nights ago.
They did not dissapoint, in fact I think they were one of those bands better live! Her voice is incredibly powerful which is good, because there were a lot of hipster lesbians with their coif in her signature massive side bang singing along at the top of their lungs.
Check out their touring schedule here and make sure you don't miss the ginger greatness if they're playing near you!
It's that time again, you all look forward to it. Your thighs yearn and burn for them almost as much as their hair burns for you. They are the ginger greats! The super humans with hair that must be impossible to match to outfits.
This week's Ginger makes my knees a little wobbly. His mop of flames has set fire to my heart. How many legendary rock bands can one red head sustain?
The answer? LOTS. I'm telling you people they are super human.
One time I saw Josh Homme on the street in LA and I have never resisted the urge to jump into someone's arms more than I did in that moment. I settled for a 'HI!' several hundred decibels louder than it was intended followed by a nervous laugh.
I'd like to say the story goes further, but nope. It ends there.
When Josh Homme isn't ignoring pretty girls advances on the street, he's rocking out in bands with super cool names that he started like 'EAGLES OF DEATH METAL' and 'QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE' and 'THE DESSERT SESSIONS'
Okay we get it, you're really good at multi- tasking. But maybe it's time for a girlfriend?
Welcome to the very special second installment of 'Ginger of the Week'
This week we have another lovely brit with flaming locks not only on his head, but all over his face. His red beard is full of mystery, a mystery I don't care to solve. I just like listening to his music and occasionally sharing a shark costume.
I've really been having a hard time thinking of stuff to write about lately, mainly because I have not been feeling very pop cultured since I locked myself in the studio in my pijamas in an attempt to finish the first EP with my band, Risky Business.
That being said I've really been inspired by La Roux's music lately. They are an electro-pop synth/vocalist duo from the UK. Their sound is largely influenced other ginger greats The Eurythmics and Depeche Mode.
What is it about red hair that incurs such greatness in people? Something in their fiery little mutant genes? They are the spidermen and batmen amongst us drab blondes and brunettes. Quietly making all of our lives better.
La Roux literally means 'The Red Haired One' which I thought was fitting for my inaugural 'Ginger of the Week' post. Her voice is incredibly unique and the melodies written over the amazing beats are unexpected. As a song writer it's often easy to write the easy way with melodies that seem obvious. What I really appreciate about La Roux's sound is that it is slightly unpredictable and keeps your attention from start to finish.
There has been a wildfire of remixes circulating the net so I thought I'd pick some of my favourites to share with you fine ginger loving people.
