This is my favourite song

right now, this song, it's just fucking unbelievable. I've listened to it on repeat, just lying on my floor, full of Mr. Noodles and 5 cent candies, I can't get enough. Just download it and listen to it 50 times, you won't regret it.

I love The XX, it's my new doing everything theme band. Everything from making sweet love to vacuuming, trust me.

Sarah Silverman: End World Hunger

Sarah Silverman may or may not be your cup of crazy but I like how this girl rolls.

Sometimes. Sometimes...eh...not so much. Actually, not at all.

But this time yes. What's her solution?

The video aired on Bill Maher a few days ago and has left people talking about not only this video but the actual important topic behind the satire.

Mission accomplished.

International NO KANYE DAY

Are you sick of hearing about Kanye? Are you sick of Kanye jokes? Interruptions played off as a bad Kanye impersonation? If you, like me are getting annoyed by even typing his name then please join me on international NO KANYE DAY. Where we simply just live our lives and appreciate the millions of other idiots in the world without giving just one idiot all of our attention. Let us remember that there were plenty of idiots before him...

and there will be plenty more idiots to come.

Printer Jam

Okay, songs that are made out of annoying sounds sometimes make that sound more tolerable.
Take for example this rad music video.

I might personally hire this producer to remix my mother making feel bad for not visiting enough.

p.s. if my printer ever turned into a giant crab I would fight it.

PORTRAIT STUDIOS ARE THE NEW BURRITO

A quick question that I think needs to be addressed? Why did this fad die?

This was very much an intentional movement that often left puppies and children costumed and possibly forever fearful of the internet and it's powers to never forget.

I know there are countless blogs devoted to posting these vintage gems but no one is stepping up to the plate to take a swing at success in the Sears Portrait Studio.

Until now...

Blondtron and I did it and we challenge you to help us breathe new life into camera lenses everywhere.

This thanksgiving, pick your backdrop and revive family tradition.

Thom Yorke, you sneaky genius!

What's Thom Yorke of Radiohead doing on stage with Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the above picture you ask? How about being an awesomely sneaky bastard and playing new material to a crowd of 600 in LA!!!! HOW JEALOUS AM I?!?!?! Very.
Thom debuted a bunch of new songs with working titles like “Open the Floodgates,” “Skirting on the Surface,” and a potential new Radiohead track called “Lotus Flower” (which might also be called “Moon Upon a Stick”).

Check out how Flea drops the funk on Thom's song Harrowdown Hill!! What an awesome collaboration!

For all you "Fake Celebrity" Haters!!!

I recently read this open letter written by Frances Bean Cobain (Kurt Cobain's daughter) to Ali Lohan (Lindsay Lohan's sister, who is like 16 but looks 35 yrs old), which was featured on Perez Hilton's Blog

This letter will be loved by all those who hate those "Celebrities" who are FAMOUS for doing NOTHING!!!

"This is my open letter to Ali Lohan.

Your not entitled to anything simply because your sister has a recognizable name. Your idea of fame isn't fame. It's infamy. You want to be famous? Work your ass off and make decisions that could potentially catapult your career into a lasting one. Notariety for who you are and notaritey for the work you produce are two completely differnt things. I understand that you have been brought up in an envirtoment where the idea of fame is easily achievable but, that's not an excuse. You lack the talent, social understanding and credibility to be anything other then infamous. Your careere choices, thus far, will transcend a future career as someone who attempted to be famous, but never quite achieved it. And if you do, it will be the formality of fame that puts you on the covers of tabloids, while the public idly watches you plumit into the murky abyss shared with the likes of Spencer Pratt & Jon Gosslin who, i'm sure, will steal your money whilst there. Fortunately for the world, there are people who have and don't have recognizable names, who have obtained artistic integrity and will one day, hopefully, bring that tangible artisticness into light again. Though, its hard to think thats achievable when people like You ali lohan are rendering the world of true talent by attempting to make your entitled ass noticed. How is this fair to the people who HAVE artistic integrity, or a mind? How is it fair to those who truly have something to offer the human race other then a dwindling last name and a few shitty films, both of which, solidified the idea that your just a celebrities sibling. I recognize that i might come across as harsh and no, i don't personally know you, but its the actions that you take, that speak for you. You blatently don't care how your recognized, its the objective to get famous and that is what makes you replaceable and a recycled idea .Well, im ashamed to have to be grouped into the same category of person as you. I would rather die a most painful death the be assoicated with the kind of careere your trying to make for your self.I hope i'm wrong because generally i'm not a very judgmental person, but in the case of you, that is MY entitlement."

WONDER WOMAN

It has come to my attention that Wonder Woman will be played by Beyonce in the 2011 movie.
Idea for premise: Wonder Woman has to protect white teenage girls from the "Wicked Midget of the West"- played by...well...you know who.
Having your own superhero franchise in Hollywood is where it's at, but if the movie sucks it's game over!!

Just look at the evidence!

Superhero movies that made the careers of the actors who starred in them:
Batman Begins - Christian Bale
Spider-Man- Tobey McGuire
Batman with Michael Keaton
Superman- Christopher Reeve

Superhero movies that destroyed the careers of the actors who starred in them and the lives of everyone who saw them:
Daredevil- Ben Affleck
The Batman movie that starred Val Kilmer...as Batman...I know.. gross.
Both attempts at making The Punisher- Dolph Lundgren sucks!
Ghost Rider- Nicolas Cage sucks.
Elektra- Jennifer Garner
Judge Dread- Sylvester Stallone
Wolverine- Hugh Jackman- I had high hopes for this one but it was lame too!

I have my fingers crossed for you Beyonce. You too Ryan Reynolds.

Dear hard left multimillionaires who hate Capitalism

Couldn't you get a better looking spokesperson than Michael Moore?!?!

Fahrenheit 9/11 was the highest grossing general release political film of all time. Regardless of what relevant points Michael Moore might make in this film regarding the current state of the American economy, don't kid yourself....he's been laughing his way to the bank for years. American Capitalism has served him well.

The 2016 Host of the Olympics is...

It's official... Minutes ago history was made! Rio De Janeiro, Brazil was chosen to host the summer 2016 olympic and Paralympic games! Rio De Janeiro is the first South American country to ever host the games. The other countries shortlisted were Madrid, Tokyo, Rio, and Chicago. Chicago seems to be taking it hard (which is where President Obama is from)... WHY?!?! In my opinion Chicago should be happy they avoided the craziness... People don't seem to realize that profit is rarely made for cities hosting the olympics and the citizens are stuck paying these ridiculous expenses for years!

I don't get the hype...

For those who care here's the official OLYMPICS web site

Whip It

Vintage sent me the movie Whip it. This movie is to husky white trash girls as Slap Shot was to scrawny white trash boys.

Starring Ellen Page, it's a charming coming of age story with roller skates, fishnets, and bloody noses. She's 22 but plays a very convincing 17. I totally got a semi. Does that make me a pedophile or just a pervert? The movie is full of girls skating and falling and fighting but sadly, there was no SYTYCD style vagina flashing. I think I'm just a pervert.

On the Whip It scale, where 1=the dog breed and 10=the aerosol dairy game, I give this movie a solid 7.63 (a Devo reference would have resulted in a much higher score).

Late Night Letterman Confession.

Last night David Letterman told a story to his studio audience and the world because he was the target of a $2 million extortion attempt.

In the video Letterman admits that he has had sexual relations with different members of his staff.

The extortionists have been identified as Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien.

Actually, the extortionist is 51-year-old Robert Halderman, an employee of 48 Hours and the boyfriend of Stephanie Birkitt. Stephanie is or was Dave's assistant and she reportedly had an affair with him years before he was married or over the past 23 years while he was dating his now wife... the story changes depending on what you read.

This wreaks of all kinds of scandal and I guess we will soon see if the confession hurt or helped him.

What's the real "creepy thing" of this video? Telling a story about having sex with your employees to people who laugh and clap loudly.

Couldn't he have thrown in a little "this is serious" as an introduction?

More evidence that Kanye West is a little bitch

KANYE WEST AND LADY GAGA “FAME KILLS” TOUR CANCELLED

Los Angeles, CA (October 1, 2009) – Live Nation announced today that the Kanye West and Lady Gaga “Fame Kills” tour has been cancelled.

PEARL JAM PICS

Pearl Jam put on a hell of a live show. If you're a fan it's like a spiritual experience. It's rare to see a band sell out an arena in this day and age and it's even more rare to have the entire place sing along to the majority of their songs. I thought I was sick of songs like Alive and Small Town until I heard Pear Jam perform them in 2009 with the good people of Vancouver as back up singers!
They played a lot of new stuff from their recently released album Backspacer. The great thing about a Pearl Jam show is that they'll play new songs, they'll play some hits, some covers AND songs that fans have come to love over the years without hesitation. NO TWO SHOWS ARE THE SAME.
Here are some pics from their recent concert in Vancouver courtesy of our friend Craig LePan.

With Ben Harper performing the Pearl Jam song Indifference

Poverty Is Not An Accident

In a world with so much wealth, modern cities and plentiful resources, how can we have so much poverty? This film attempts to answer that question although it seems that the answer is because someone, somewhere wants it that way.

Opens in theatres Nov 13th.

Lady Gaga interview

Ed talks to the one and only LADY GAGA!

Save the Dolphins

Im not really one for save the anything campaigns, not that they are bad or good I just don't usually jump on band wagons very often. Recently I went to see the film "The Cove" and it was a pretty amazingly made film, and definitely had a strong message. It's always difficult when you see films like this to really know if your getting the whole story because they are usually created from only one point of view. I think regardless of how you look at it, this film shines a lot of light on a shady side of Japan thats really quite disturbing. Anyway it's a great film that you most definitely should go watch if nothing more that to keep it in the theatres so more people get the chance to see it for themselves.

have a look.. and see what happens in the cove.....

Gripe and HYPE!!

GRIPE:

Muffins.

You seriously suck. You have just as many calories as flipping cake but you're not cake. You're a muffin. You're a wolf dressed as a sheep that secretly glues slices of black forest ham to my thighs when I'm sleeping. I hate you muffin. Yeah, you're pretty tasty when you get out of the oven and hook-up with butter, but I'm sick of your charade. There's a reason no one wants to put icing on you, and it's because we all know you're a liar.

Hype:

Cupcakes.

You are awesome, you're cute and you taste great and are pretty much synonymous with things like kittens and rainbows. You don't have to pretend to be something your not. Why even bother trying to be a fake healthy breakfast food when you could be invited to tea parties? You make me want to wear fancy hats and buy pink dresses from Betsy Johnson. You never let it go to your head either, you are perfect cupcake. I love you.

Fame is Lonely

I just saw Fame at a theatre in Fort St John. For those of you that don't know where that is, I will provide some directions.

Drive North. Very North. Then turn Right. Very Right. Pro-Life, Anti-Gay Right. Continue past the High School with the Daycare Program. Do not graduate.

The theatre in this town is in an almost vacant mall. The other stores consist of an Orange Julius and a Stripper Blanket store. Coincidentally, the only other people in the movie theatre were a gay dude and a pregnant stripper.

Fame is essentially High School Musical meets America's Best Dance Crew with a little bit of Degrassi thrown in for good measure. It was mildly entertaining; however, if I was anywhere else in the world, I would probably have done something else.

I guess I'm not really the target market. There was a New Moon preview and I only tittered and squealed a little bit. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go buy a stripper blanket.

Happy Halloween - Hmmmm

Every year in North America, a holiday comes around that allows everyone to be comfortable playing out what ever embarrassing fantasies or fetishes that they deeply desire to show off to the world but don't have the balls enough to do so. This special holiday gives us all the excuse to brush it off as the norm, wether you love to be a super skank, or want to rock out your cross dressing fetish for the day, however acceptable for one day and one day only, (sometimes two if you have to do the work costume thing too and Halloween happens to fall on a weekend) Anyway below are some questionable yet incredibly creative costume options that you may... or may not choose to copy. Give us your thoughts on these costumes or tell us what you plan on wearing this year..

My Monkey Baby

TLC is branching outside of its exciting world of midgets, multiples, and morbid obesity to bring us to new heights/new lows of entertainment in "My Monkey Baby".

Listen to their marketing blurbs

“With her pink bedroom, a designer wardrobe, the latest toys, games and makeup, Jessica Marie is like any spoiled little girl … Except that she’s a monkey,” the show’s description reads.

“Just what makes a couple take on a 40-year commitment to an eternal toddler? How strong is the parent/monkey bond? It’s an extraordinary look into the real-lives of people parenting monkeys in America.”

That last sentence just blew my mind.

The “real lives of people parenting monkey in America?” Is this something people do?

REALLY?

October 4th at 6pm grab your banana and get ready to ride the train to crazy town.

Pet Shop Boys

Pet Shop Boys were in town this weekend so I headed to the Centre for Performing Arts to get a dose of catchy British beats from the colourful British duo. As befits a group of their longevity and impressive history of chart hits, the place was packed and the fans were ready to cut a rug and sing every word. It's too bad they weren't playing a venue with a proper dancefloor, but most people weren't complaining. The video display was top-notch and they came out with cubes on their heads. It was somehow 1989 and 2009 at the same time. Fitting, somehow.

Very interesting stuff.

2009 Emmys Review

5pm PT- No matter how gay he gets or how many Harold and Kumar movies he does, Neil Patrick Harris will always be Doogie Howser to me.
5:10pm- some chick from Pushing Daisies won. She was crying. Standard issue tears. So far i'm bored.

5:21pm- If Kevin Dillon doesn't win for Entourage i'll be sick.

5:22pm- He lost. Shit.  Jon Cryer just won Best Supporting Actor in a comedy series for Two and a Half Men.  Nice speach. He beat out like four dudes from 30 Rock. Is that show really that good? Apparently. I never really got into it. Is there something wrong with me? Maybe I should start watching it. I mean I don't want to do it just cuz everyone else is but it's nominated for so any Emmys that something MUST be going on there. Alec Baldwin is a legend and should win something. He should win his award AND everyone else's.
If you're bored of the Emmys, here he is being awesome in a Time interview.

5:29pm- Justin Timberlake is nominated for an Emmy for his SNL skits?!?!? Aaaaaaannnnndddddd he won. This guy can't be stopped. Christ!

5:31pm- Sarah Silverman in a fake moustache. Brilliant.

5:49pm- Alec Baldwin Wins!!!

6:00pm- Reality TV can suck it.  Now someone give HOTMESS a reality show!!!!!

6:15pm- This middle lull shit is brutal. I have totally tuned out and I'm now listening to Pearl Jam's amazing new album Backspacer.

6:22pm- Is it too much to ask Patricia Arquette and Jennifer Love Hewitt to make out on stage?

6:28pm- Natan Fillion and NPH do a funny internet sketch. We interviewed Nathan on Hotmess. Scroll down ad check for that podcast!!!

6:45pm- British folk accepting awards are as dry as week old melba toast.

6:51pm- Bruce Gowers won for American Idol. Apparently he had something to do with the video below so I like him>>>>>

6:53pm- The Daily Show writers win. As they should.

6:58pm- Normally I want to punch  Jimmy Fallon in the face/junk but his auto-tune bit was hilarious.

7:03pm- God bless you Ricky Gervais, "In this room I'm probably above average." Genius.
The Daily Show wins again! John Stewart is funny obviously and compliments NPH on his hosting.

7:16pm- What the shit?!?!? Some dude from LOST beat anyone Mad Men for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama? Now I know this shit is fixed.

7:18pm- Cherry Jones should have won for Best Porno Name.

7:20pm- Sarah McLachlan sings I Will Remember You, dedicated to those actors who have passed away this year. Hotmess salutes them all, especially Bea Arthur.

7:38pm- Mad Men wins Best Writing in a Dramatic Series!

7:50pm- I wanted Michael C. Hall to win. Bryan Cranston won. I'm not that upset. This category was loaded with talent.

7:52pm- Bob Newhart is still alive?!?!?  He's hilarious. "If Weeds wins it may take them a little longer to get up here." HAHAHA.  Wow. 30 Rock won for Best Comedy. Again. I DO need to watch this show.

7:57pm- Sigourney Weaver presents the Best Dramatic Series Award to Mad Men. Hells yeah!
I have such a boner for this show I cut my hair like Donald Draper. Is that crazy? Whatever, that's it. Peace.

Pearl Jam vs. Fresca

I love Fresca. It's delicious. I love Pearl Jam even more. Their new album Backspacer comes out Sept. 20 but you can ge an advance listen here at www.myspace.com/tenclub. I love this album. I want to buy it a ring and have children with it...they'd start off as little 45s and before you know it they'd grow into cassette tapes. Pretty soon they'd be CD's joining the workforce and getting a mortgage, ever maturing into MP3s, until they finally grow the fuck up and realize that this whole time they really wanted to be LPs.

She's left on a Jet Plane

Singer Mary Travers of iconic folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary has sadly passed away today after a four year battle with leukemia. The trio mixed their music with liberal politics, both onstage and off but still managed to make songs that topped the charts. Their version of "If I Had a Hammer" became an anthem for racial equality. Other hits included "Lemon Tree," "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and my favourite song as a child, "Puff (The Magic Dragon.)" for which they collected 5 Grammy Awards.

Perhaps it's just my hippie upbringing, or the fact that I've lived in a van before, but this one hits close to home. She was the face of a group who was the sound of the peace movement of the 60's and 70's. Marching with Martin Luther King and performing at massive peace rallies. Peter, Paul & Mary helped give America it's first taste of Bob Dylan and furthered many others budding careers; recording numbers written by then-little-known Gordon Lightfoot and Laura Nyro.

Hey Leukemia, your name is hard to spell, and you really suck! That's it! I'm not spell checking you anymore! You are just LAMEkemia to me.

Here are few of their classic songs, grab some organic wine, let your hair down and enjoy.

Leaving on a Jet Plane - Peter, Paul & Mary

Blowing in the Wind - Peter, Paul & Mary

Puff the Magic Dragon - Peter, Paul & Mary

Petting is Passé, Your Cat Wants a Massage.

I don't know about you, but I've often wondered how to make cats even more spoiled, self righteous and bratty. Without cats, we wouldn't have lint brushes, and everyone loves a good lint brush! If you feel like fancy feast just isn't cutting it for your purrfect little feline, then dive into this video. It's a fabulous way to spend the four hours your cat isn't sleeping on your black clothes.

R.I.P. PATRICK SWAYZE

1952- 2009
This past Monday September 14th, 2009 we lost a great actor and human being, Patrick Swayze died of Pancreatic Cancer at age 57. Hotmess and I would like to wish those who knew him best our deepest condolences. Growing up, I was a huge fan of his movies. His charisma, sex appeal and triple threat talent made him a house hold name and this is why today I am sad. My favorite movie by Patrick Swayze is "Ghost".

September 29th will be the official release of Patrick Swayze's Memoires called "The Time of my Life", written by both Patrick Swayze and his wife of 34 years Lisa Niemi. This will be an important piece of memorabilia for an Swayze fan!

Patrick Swayze you will be missed!

CAPS LOCK CAN'T HELP YOU NOW!

Kanye “Gay Fish” West has pissed off critics and fans with yet another award show outburst.

The seemingly Hennessy fueled moment happened when Taylor Swift won “Female Video of the Year” when Kanye felt Beyonce should’ve gotten it.

Beyonce’s video went on to win “Video of the Year” making Kanye look like even more of a giant douche.

Kanye cannot CAPS LOCK his way out of this one! People are pissed.

And if pop singers are tweeting against you then times are about to get tough… for your PR company.

Pink: Kanye west is the biggest piece of shit on earth. Quote me.

adamlambert: Kanye needs to chill. He freaks out every year. It ain't that deep man.

JoelMadden: WOW Taylor Swift's first VMA and she didn't even get to ENJOY it. Kanye You were just a bully on that one man.

I am sure South Park is going to go lose it over this one. I bet they are the only ones calling him to say thank you.

No one can argue that Kanye is a very talented artist but I wonder how "real" he would be if that were done to HIM?

I finally finished my Wolf Like Me Cover, it's been a long time coming... but thanks to the genius of past Hotmess Dj and awesome producer Parlange, the track is finally rocking out speakers around town. A Great Song

Yes I know, this riff has been sampled and heard over and over and over about eight point six billion times, but I do think that this song friggin rocks. After repairing my soul from an incredible vegas weekend I am pretty sure this is a great song to bring me back to my old energy level. How about you have a listen for yourself and tell me what you think?

Our very own Handsome Anderson celebrated a surprise birthday in Vegas this Labour Day long weekend.  During our three day extravaganza of indulgence we partied with LMFAO at Tao.

We also kicked out the jams with VIP bottle service at Tryst, saw the Cirque show LOVE ( which is awesome) and had a slight confrontation with an Eminem wannabe at 4:30am at a casino bar in Treasure Island. That fucking loser.
We now need to know your best hangover cure.
