I DO heart NYC ... I bet you do too!

I'm Back!

My trip to the East Coast included an epic amount of walking, eating, and adventuring.

Everything from watching a taping of the Jimmy Fallon Show to staying in a DUMBO studio where a transexual mocumentary and photo shoots on each corner of the street were occurring. That could possibly be the strangest sentence I have ever written.

I am surprised I got on the plane back. It was a hard choice. I think the humidity made the choice for me.

A few tips I picked up for even the veteran NYC travelers:

*Liquiteria in Mid Manhattan.m It will save your life after 2 days with no sleep.

*Forget the museums – go to Williamsburg to see the History of the Hipster Exhibit... then stroll to Green Point to see the Future of the Hipster display.

* Spend a Saturday night at Union Pool and question why Vancouver doesn’t have a backyard lounge like that.

*Listen to Handsome Anderson and DO NOT bum rush celebrities. I saw Natalie Portman and clung to the moral of his story with every fiber of my being.

She probably would've had her dog do that to me!

*Mad Decent and Diplo were everywhere. They even have an IPhone App that I think I heard more times than the sound of taxi horns honking.

I missed them but keep an eye out for when they come to town- I heard their night really was “cooler than the other side of your pillow”.

*Bask in the fact that any given night an amazing band will be playing somewhere in your vicinity!

Calgary Virgin Music Festival

Last weekend (August 8th and 9th) was the Calgary "Virgin Music Festival," which was held at Canada Olympic Park and featured awesome artists such as: K-OS, Winter Sleep, Metric, Billy Talent, and of course Pearl Jam! I had the priviledge of attending and here are some of the pictures I took...

And... Here's Jason Awesome backstage while K-OS performed looking pretty damn TALL!

Fox news you dumb shits!!

Seriously!?!? not that you need another reason to NOT watch Fox news but WTF! Are you telling me the graphics department at the news station is so fucking dumb they actually think that's were Egypt is?? Not to mention that the editing department is just as dumb becasue they let this graphic go on air. HOT TIP: Egypt is located on the continent of Africa not the middle east.

Fox followed this peice of news up with a Paddington Bear scandal, appareantly the loveable bear was drunk at yet another children's party this past weekend..... Bloody hell, give a bear a break I'd be drunk to if i was doing nothing but entertaining children since 1958.

I'm thinking scotch drinker.

GI JOE

I was just in Redwood City, CA to cover the launch of the new G.I. JOE video game for EA. G.I. JOE was a big part of my childhood and now Hollywood has made this movie that is probably gonna fuck it all up. Soooo, instead of spending 15 bucks to go see the new real american hero... I would rather sit on my couch and watch this video that my buddy Alan is in for free and have a laugh. Do the do.

PEARL JAM IN CALGARY 2009...

I was a grunge kid. In the early 90's I was a skinny teen with long hair, steel toe Doc Martens, flannel for miles and a boner for grunge music. I loved Pearl Jam then and I love them now.
I realise that many of their detractors seem to blame the band for Nickelback and Creed but I'm pretty sure if Eddie Vedder ever met Chad Kroeger or Scott Stapp he'd knock them both the fuck out. Well young Eddie would, old Eddie would probably impart some Buddhist wisdom and THEN knock them the fuck out. I digress.
Bottom line is Pearl Jam in 2009 have more in common with clasic rock bands from the 60's and 70's, like their heros The Who, then any Grunge copycats who made a name in the wake of their debut album TEN.
Itt's apparent when you see them live, as I just did in Calgary, Alberta this past weekend, that they are above and beyond most rock acts today in terms of skill, quality of songs and sheer entertainment.

Here's the first single " The Fixer" from Pear Jam's up coming new album, Backspacer.
They played it in Calgary. It rocks. Check below for the rest of the set list.
